The bunker is in the centre of Aachen, in approx. 10 minutes walking distance to the Cathedral and the City Hall. It is located on Sandkaulstraße, which leads from the off-ramp “Würselen“ in the north directly into the city centre. The central position attracts a lot of visitors.

The cities Aachen and Tygerberg (one out of six substructures forming Cape Town) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2000, which is based on AGENDA 21. The Memorandum lines out the co-operation and support of Non-Governmental-Organisations. Since March 1998 there is an existing Partnership between WELTHAUS AACHEN e.V. and KERIC (Khayelitsha Education Resource and Information Centre) of the township Khayelitsha, near Cape Town.

Khayelitsha residents count three quarters of a million people, living crowded on a small place. A bitter legacy of Apartheid is poverty. Organisations like KERIC and KHAYMEP (Khayelitsha Media and Development Project) empower members of the community and fight for a liveable and healthy life. “Therefore the partnership between Worldhouse and Keric is a fundamental aspect of the work done by environmental and One World action groups. What links us together is the joint objective to create a sustainable environment for our communities based on a socio-economically and ecologically just development.“

Brele Scholz started her self-developed carrier in political graphic design. She left this narrow frame and continued into a broader artistic expression. Through personal questions she seeks essential and general expressions of human behaviour. Favourite examples of her artistic style are her projects "Ortlos", which is an installation highlighting asylum and refugees and the installation "Fluchtgeschichten", which are visualised interviews in Germany during 1933-1948. Uta Göbel-Groß
| Uta Göbel-Groß
|
The artworks of Uta Göbel-Groß reflects her intensive interaction with different cultures, with their expression and their meaning. Her artistic work is the work of a visual archaeologist. She goes deeply into ethnical roots, presents bridges between cultures and integrates different elements like a puzzle into her style. She creates intercultural dialogues.
Other artworks are visible traces of people, for instance the body-negatives "BRUST" and dialogues with signs, symbols and found objects (wooden objects, "ANGST ESSEN SEELE AUF", series: "WALKABOUT").

The concept of the "Mural for Aachen" seeks the interaction with an intercultural dialogue through the different artistic signatures of the three artists. The task is to develop the subject during painting the mural. Mankind, his actions and the attitude towards his own world is in the centre of the artwork.
