Einweihung

Dörverden is a rural municipality. Thomas Brose has been employed with the task of enriching the local Agenda-21-process with north-south-aspects. He coordinated the mural and invited the artist.

Edierck da Silva, autodidact, painter and musician, is engaged in Brazil in traditional culture and social inequality. These themes are also the main motives of his rich colorful paintings.
In Dörverden, he worked out together with a project group of pupils and teachers the scetch for the mural.

'Building a new World'. The pupils worked on the theme of the Agenda 21 and their north-south aspects for some time. Finally, they drew their ideas, hopes and fears for living together in one-world in the next century. Edierck da Silva painted the mural together with 15 pupils. The pupils also worked out a photo- and video-documentation. It is planned for the future to use the mural as a basis for further project work in the school relating to the Agenda 21 and their north-south aspects.
For the year 2000 a mural is planned in Afogadas da Ingazeira. A part of this project will be funded by local activities.
