"prostitution and adoration"

Kai Teschner and Samuel Mbingilo
The two artists reflected on the subject of "prostitution and adoration" and translated their thoughts into art. This subject is especially connected to our part of the City of Hamburg, as St. Pauli is known for its red light district.

On work
The painting refers to a wooden sculpture from the Palau islands (Micronesia, Pacific Ocean) as a central motif, which has been taken from the Hamburg Museum of Cultural Anthropology. This painting of a Dilukai sculpture on a wall in front of the "sex-mile" in St.-Pauli raises questions concerning the reputation women have in their specific cultures and which role they are playing in their respective societies.

Such a "provoking" mural painting could make the spectator reflect on the meaning of the "services" of micronesian women and the "services" of prostitutes at St. Pauli.
